Solar Energy is one of the main sources of renewable green energy which is continuously being replenished by nature – our Sun. The sunlight and solar heat radiated to earth are being absorbed, dispersed and converted to other forms of energy. With the use of technology we are able to harness the power of the sun that reaches the surface of the earth.
How Solar Works
Photovoltaic systems use the sun’s energy to create electricity. Solar panels convert the solar energy to electric energy when the solar energy displaces electrons within the solar panels. The displaced electrons are used to create direct current electricity. We then use an inverter to convert this direct current (DC) electricity to alternating current (AC) electricity that is used in most homes or businesses.
Solar electric systems are renewable energy sources which allow the owners to generate electricity from the Sun.
Here’s the breakdown of what happens:
The Sun’s energy hits the solar panels creating DC electricity
The DC electricity flows through the conductors into an Inverter, which then converts that energy into AC electricity
The AC electricity is first used onsite
Any excess energy not used onsite is pushed back to the utility grid, creating a bank of kilowatt hours to be used later
Fact: The earth receives more energy from the sun in one hour, than the world uses in an entire year.
